Cultivating Worthwhile Weekly Bible Studies for Military Women & Groups

ROOTED Bible studies by Planting Roots are designed with military women in mind. They are short but not shallow, using only a Bible, a blank journal or notebook, and a desire to draw near to our God Most High. Whether doing this study at home or as part of a group, we hope you will gain spiritual strength as you encounter God.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_3″ last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_postslider layout=”posts” excerpt=”15″ category=”design” limit=”2″ lightbox=”yes” class=”” id=””][/fusion_postslider][fusion_text]Rooted-E-e1425748167242-265x300[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container background_color=”#6a6970″ background_image=”” background_parallax=”fixed” enable_mobile=”no” parallax_speed=”0.3″ background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_webm=”” video_mp4=”” video_ogv=”” video_preview_image=”” overlay_color=”” overlay_opacity=”0.5″ video_mute=”yes” video_loop=”yes” fade=”no” border_size=”0px” border_color=”#e5e4e4″ border_style=”” padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px” padding_left=”0px” padding_right=”0px” hundred_percent=”no” equal_height_columns=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” menu_anchor=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_imageframe lightbox=”no” gallery_id=”” lightbox_image=”” style_type=”none” hover_type=”none” bordercolor=”” bordersize=”0px” borderradius=”0″ stylecolor=”” align=”left” link=”” linktarget=”_self” animation_type=”fade” animation_direction=”right” animation_speed=”1″ animation_offset=”” hide_on_mobile=”no” class=”” id=””] [/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container background_color=”” background_image=”” background_parallax=”none” enable_mobile=”no” parallax_speed=”0.3″ background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_webm=”” video_mp4=”” video_ogv=”” video_preview_image=”” overlay_color=”” overlay_opacity=”0.5″ video_mute=”yes” video_loop=”yes” fade=”no” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding_top=”20″ padding_bottom=”20″ padding_left=”” padding_right=”” hundred_percent=”no” equal_height_columns=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” menu_anchor=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_title size=”2″ content_align=”left” style_type=”default” sep_color=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” class=”” id=””]Do This in Remembrance of Me[/fusion_title][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container background_color=”” background_image=”” background_parallax=”none” enable_mobile=”no” parallax_speed=”0.3″ background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_webm=”” video_mp4=”” video_ogv=”” video_preview_image=”” overlay_color=”” overlay_opacity=”0.5″ video_mute=”yes” video_loop=”yes” fade=”no” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding_top=”20″ padding_bottom=”20″ padding_left=”” padding_right=”” hundred_percent=”no” equal_height_columns=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” menu_anchor=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_text]

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and will all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:4-9

The Shema. Verses recited as a prayer by Jewish believers every morning and every evening.

“Hear O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one.”

Read that verse aloud with me. Doesn’t this simple yet powerful truth fill you with peace? It is good sometimes to remind ourselves daily of simple truth like this one.

If you are like me, you probably tell your children and your husband that you love them daily. The fact that you spoke that truth to them once is not enough. They need to hear it everyday.

The same is true about God’s truth in our lives. We need to hear it daily and be reminded of it.

“This day shall be a memorial day, and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations, as a statute forever, you shall keep it as a feast.” Exodus 12:14

Jewish believers gather for the feast of Passover every year to remember a significant event in their history. They are celebrating the end of their slavery to the Egyptians (Exodus 12).

During that celebration they drink four cups of wine. Each represents a promise that God spoke to Moses in Exodus 6:6-8.

The first cup is known as the cup of sanctification. Sanctified means to be set apart (see Exodus 6:6). The second cup is the cup of freedom. As they drink it they remember that they are no longer slaves. Next they drink from the cup of redemption. This cup is significant to us as well. It is the cup that Jesus presents to his disciples during the last supper (see Matthew 26:27). It is taken in remembrance of the blood of the lamb that was smeared on their doorposts.  The cup of redemption is the same cup that we, as Christians, drink from when we partake in communion.  The final cup is known as the cup of praise.

“Do this in remembrance of me.”

Four cups. Four actions. Four memories of God’s provision in their lives.

“You will tell your children what I did for you.”

Do you?  Do you share your story of sanctification, freedom and redemption with your children? Do you openly praise Him in front of your children? Do you talk about all the good things that God has done for you?

The Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) is a prayer and a command to do just that. What was applicable to the Jews thousands of years ago is true for us today. We are to tell the stories. We have an obligation to build faith that way in our children. We otherwise risk that they will grow in fear of this world.

Communion Sunday is a good place to start. Remind yourself that you were set apart. Tell your children. Explain to them also the freedom found only in Christ Jesus. Encourage them to explore the concept of redemption. NEVER let this truth lose its wonder in your hearts. Above all praise Him today and everyday.

Communion invites you to apply the lamb’s blood to the door post of your heart.

You are sanctified.

You are free.

You are redeemed.

Remember and praise Him![/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container background_color=”#6a6970″ background_image=”” background_parallax=”fixed” enable_mobile=”no” parallax_speed=”0.3″ background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_webm=”” video_mp4=”” video_ogv=”” video_preview_image=”” overlay_color=”” overlay_opacity=”0.5″ video_mute=”yes” video_loop=”yes” fade=”no” border_size=”0px” border_color=”#e5e4e4″ border_style=”” padding_top=”0px” padding_bottom=”0px” padding_left=”0px” padding_right=”0px” hundred_percent=”no” equal_height_columns=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” menu_anchor=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_imageframe lightbox=”no” gallery_id=”” lightbox_image=”” style_type=”none” hover_type=”none” bordercolor=”” bordersize=”0px” borderradius=”0″ stylecolor=”” align=”left” link=”” linktarget=”_self” animation_type=”fade” animation_direction=”right” animation_speed=”1″ animation_offset=”” hide_on_mobile=”no” class=”” id=””] [/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container background_color=”#efc5b3″ background_image=”” background_parallax=”none” enable_mobile=”no” parallax_speed=”0.3″ background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_webm=”” video_mp4=”” video_ogv=”” video_preview_image=”” overlay_color=”” overlay_opacity=”0.5″ video_mute=”yes” video_loop=”yes” fade=”no” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” padding_top=”20″ padding_bottom=”20″ padding_left=”” padding_right=”” hundred_percent=”no” equal_height_columns=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” menu_anchor=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_text]

Daily Reflections

Day One: Read Deuteronomy 6:4-9.

Take the time today to write this verse on a piece of paper. Then read it slowly. Pray it. Journal what God is speaking to your heart.

Day Two: Read Exodus 12:11-14

The telling of this story is an unbroken chain stretching back to 1446 BC. What stories do you have in your family or personal history that are worth passing on? Why do you think it is important to record and share significant events in our lives?

Day Three: Read Romans 8:16-17

The Passover meal is a mixture of bitter herbs and sweet treats. A good reminder of what life is truly like: a mixture of bitter and sweet moments. What bitter herbs aka tough times is God taking you through? In the light of Romans 8:16-17, how can those bitter herbs become sweet treats?

Day Four: Read Matthew 5:17-18

Jesus came to fulfill the law, not abolish it. Every promise from God will come true. What promise do you need to remember today? Promise about your future (Jeremiah 29:11); Promise of rest (Matthew 11:28-29); Promise that you will have enough (Philippians 4:19). Add to this list and share with us!!

Day Five: Read 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

How do you prepare for communion? The communion cup is a unique opportunity for fellowship with Jesus. How can you remember to make it special? Be specific.
