One of our favorite things about the Strength2Thrive Conferences here at Planting Roots is worship time. The Planting Roots Band that God has brought together is simply amazing. A group of military women with amazing skills, they simply love to worship and have others join with them. You don’t want to miss this!
Here is what God has brought together in the Band:
Kayla Atkins was born and raised in a musical family. Since the age of two, Kayla has been no stranger to the stage, touring and singing with her family during her childhood. She later branched out to find her own voice by moving to Nashville, TN at the age of 20. From her local church to touring with a nonprofit, Kayla has worked in multiple venues over the years.
Married in 2002, Kayla, her husband, and three children have more recently adopted full-time military life. She has had the opportunity to serve as worship leader for PWOCs (Protestant Women of the Chapel). She carries a passion in ministering to military wives through worship and original music, while still staying involved in her local church. Kayla released her first CD in 2012 called “Rhythms of Grace.”
Recently, she has joined Planting Roots as the European worship coordinator, helping plan and lead worship at various events around the region as they arise. Although being a military spouse comes with its share of moving around the U.S. and other parts of the world, she continues to sing and pursue any ministry opportunity where God leads! And she is thoroughly enjoying the ride!
As a Retired Army Officer, Suzanne is particularly passionate about serving and building up military women and spouses. Currently stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and married to a Retired Army Officer, she is actively involved in various Chapel ministries and faithfully brings her passion for worship (with multiple instruments and harmony vocals) to the Throne.
