For this week’s Sunday Prayer, Hillary prays for us to flourish in the gift of faith.

Flourish in the Gift of Faith

by Hillary Baggett

O Lord, you have gifted us with faith – the belief in all that is not seen. Some are born with great faith, but your Word tells us we can start with faith the size of a mustard seed, and that is enough.

Lord, we believe, but search our souls and help uncover the morsels of unbelief that sabotage our firm foundation. Show us, Lord, how to strengthen our faith.

Create in us the desire to follow you with our whole and complete hearts. We have unhindered access to you, Lord, but we often forget. Reveal to us any unforgiveness or other respectable sins that keep us from being in an intimate relationship with you and seeing your will for our lives.

Protect us, O Lord

You, O God, are an open shelter for our hearts and minds to grow, develop, and flourish during our short time on earth. Protect us from the many distractions of this world. Hem us in so that our eyes focus on you and your glory.

You love us and value an intimate relationship with us. Help us cleave to you, to hang on, and pursue a relationship with you. Uncover the truth that we can not see and reveal your truth to us in your perfect timing. See us, Lord! Hear our cries, listen to our pleas! Your mercy abounds and your grace overflows like seven sacred pools in Maui.

Lead us to daily prayer time. Steer us towards building community as we encourage others to grow in their faith. Guide us to the church family you want us to worship with and strengthen our faith.

Strengthen the Gift of Faith

Establish a firm foundation of faith in our children as they grow in their walk with you. Help us to continually have child-like faith, when life brings on so many challenges. I beseech you, Lord, to quash the spirit of suicide, depression, and anxiety that cripples our society and military communities. Let people be seen, listened to, and unconditionally loved.

Keep us humble, O Lord. Pride destroys too many relationships, let your love conquer all pride, so we can heal. You call us to live in the freedom you have given us. “For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters … use your freedom to serve one another in love.” Galatians 5:13 (NLT)

Blessed are you, O God. We thank you and know that you strengthen our faith through both our trials as well as our victories. You, Lord, are faithful and are ever-ready to lead us back to you.

In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
